Pride of the Gold Coast Marching Band and Color Guard
The Boca Raton High School Band is made up of several ensembles that collectively form the band program as a whole.
Marching Band
Students enrolled in a band or color guard class are welcome to participate in marching band as it is an extracurricular activity. Marching band meets after school during the fall semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm every week.
Our marching band performs the National Anthem, our main event half time show and showing school spirit and support for our football team by playing crowd pleasing stands tunes playing a variety of pop, hip hop and funk music. Each summer a new theme is chosen and rehearsed throughout the summer at band camp. Additional rehearsals are scheduled as needed, with two weeks advance notice. Performance requirements include all parades, pep rallies, football games, and marching competitions.
Past show themes included "Echos Through Time", "Blast", "Tormented" and "In the Yard"
Percussion
Percussion meet during 2nd hour apart from all of the wind players. During class we focus on performing on all elements of percussion. Percussionists will perform with the symphonic and concert bands at all concerts in addition to any ensembles we prepare. There are mandatory after school rehearsals prior to each concert, as well as once a week after school rehearsals beginning in January to prepare for our festival performance.
Concert Band
This band consists of woodwind students in 3rd hour and brass students in 6th hour. There are mandatory after school rehearsals prior to each concert, as well as once a week after school rehearsals beginning in January to prepare for our festival performance.
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is the premier ensemble, designed for any student who can musically qualify for membership. There are mandatory after school rehearsals prior to each concert, as well as once a week after school rehearsals beginning in January to prepare for our festival performance. This band meets during 5th hour.
Jazz Band
The Jazz Band is a performing ensemble designed for any student who can musically qualify for membership. This ensemble will focus on expanding students’ exposure to jazz literature, and will also address jazz theory and improvisational skills. After school rehearsals and performances are mandatory. This band meets during 1st hour.
Percussion
